September 9 – Regular and Study City Council Meeting

Here is a summary of the September 9th, 2024 Regular + Study Meeting of Livonia City Council.

The following items were approved:

▪️Award of contract to install new chiller at Bennett Civic Center Library

▪️ Request by engineering to pay for removal and installation of streetlights at new Senior Center

▪️ Settlement request from law department

Second reading was given for a code amendment to the Senior Citizens Housing Tax Exemption. This relates to the PILOT program for 77 affordable, independent senior housing units at the Mother House of the Felician Sisters.

The lot split request for parcel at 8 Mile between 275 and Newburgh was denied at a previous meeting but was reintroduced and passed.

▪️ Accept MSHDA grant for McKenna to update Livonia Vision21 to reflect middle housing needs

▪️ Purchase requests by DPW related to the water/sewer program

▪️ Approved payment for emergency watermain break project that is expected to be reimbursed by Consumers Energy
