Council presented the following commendations:

  • Last Day Dog Rescue – they host an annual fundraiser Paws, Pours and More at Wilson Barn on Saturday from 4pm to 8pm, tickets are $35
  • Michigan Treasure Hunters – they meet the 4th Tuesday of each month at Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 7:30pm
  • Carson Evans, University of Michigan student who built out the City’s Tree Inventory dashboard. The database will be public in the days ahead.

Mayor Brosnan was joined by Emergency Preparedness Director Brian Kahn to provide an update on DTE. Livonia will be a pilot city for a new generator distribution system. The City is providing space for a program managed by DTE. This program will provide generators to residents who experience extended blackouts while they are without power.

  • The minutes and consent agenda were approved.
    • Item 11 was removed from the agenda to explain why the city was purchasing another dump truck
  • The following items were approved:
  • Block Party
  • Bond related request from Madonna University (this is government administration, the City is not liable or involved with this bond)
  • Settlement thru MMRMA for two residential home flood claims

The following items were denied:

  • A lot split request at 38449 Eight Mile (between Newburgh and 275)
  • A request to operate a massage parlor at 33242 Seven Mile Rd

Items put on the consent agenda:

  • A request to waive the noise ordinance for Supernatural Spirits and Brewings annual Wildwood Sourfest
  • Multiple block parties
  • Waiver use request from Penske Automotive/Bill Brown Ford for property on the NW corner of Plymouth Rd and Hubbard
  • Request for a Class C liquor license for The Rack
  • Development proposal for a new Home 2 Suites by Hilton, Cooper’s Hawk and Capital Grille at 6 Mile and 275 by Laurel Park
  • Development proposal by TRUE Credit Union at 36525 Plymouth Road
  • Contract requests from Engineering department
  • The request by the Housing Commission to approve an ordinance amendment for the PILOT program for 77 affordable, independent senior housing units at the Mother House of the Felician Sisters was put on the regular agenda for a first read.
