March 19, 2024 – Planning Commission

Last week, the Livonia Planning Commission considered the application of Six Haggerty Partners, LLC to develop the recently vacated Comerica Bank property at 6 mile and Haggerty.

The site plan featured the disclosed developments:

  • • A luxury apartment complex with 170 units
  • • A hotel with 101 rooms called Hyatt House
  • • A Whole Foods Market
  • • A Club Studio fitness studio
  • • A Starbucks
  • • Various other retailers

These developments adjoin the already existing parking garage previously used by Comerica Bank for employee parking.

Much of the discussion and the public comments focused on the perceived impact to traffic on Haggerty Road and 6 Mile roRd. The developers did do a traffic study, examining the impact of additional traffic on current levels; in other words, without the employees who worked full-time in the Comerica Bank office. The Planning Commission recommended a separate traffic study be done incorporating the employees of Comerica Bank to get a different comparison.

The site plan calls for an additional traffic light to be installed at 6 Mile and Fox Drive.

The site plan was recommended for approval by the Livonia Planning Commission and now moves to be considered by the Livonia City Council on April 1 during their Study Meeting
