One response to “February 27, 2023 – City Council Meeting”

  1. I really appreciate the city trying to find ways to help our teens find constructive activities for the summer by offering free use of the Livonia rec center. My foster son had a summer membership that he really utilized.
My comment is this. I find that people rarely appreciate things given to them without any effort on their part. It may lead to disrespecting the rules and facility and others. My suggestion is this. 1) a minimal charge of $5.00 a month ( I think monthly is more effective than a one time fee. 2) If a teen could not afford it, a minimum time of volunteer work would substitute. Years of working with children and teens and being a foster parent have helped me reach this conclusion. Earned privileges are more effective than handouts. 😊
