Consumers Energy – Check Presentation for Energy Savings:
Stacy Jenkins (Administrator for District Communications) introduced and with a representative from Consumers Energy, explained and recognized a $237K rebate due to recent energy efficient replacements of boilers and roofs with the Sinking Fund.
Stevenson High School State Champ Swimmer & Girls Swim Team:
Stacy Jenkins introduced, and the Board approved a resolution to recognize McKenzie Siroky (Stevenson) for capturing the MHSAA Girls Division 1 Swimming State Championship in the 100-yard
Breaststroke. In doing so she beat her own state record, and this is the third consecutive state
championship title for McKenzie. She also placed third place in the state championship in the 50-
yard freestyle and was named an All American. The Swim Team was also honored with Allie Allen and Faith Robertson joining McKenzie and Coach Greg Phil.
District Update from the Superintendent:
Superintendent Oquist appealed highlights from across the District, including learning activities at several schools; Merry and Bright Parade; Robotics team visited Cleveland; PTSA Council’s Family Engineering Night; Winter Sports has started; LPS Education Foundation Annual Luncheon; LPS Vision Forward Team; and Franklin Football Coach Chris Kelbert was recognized as MHSAA Coach of the Week.

Approval of Bid Results for Summer 2023 Roof Replacement (Sinking Fund):
Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the contract for roofing replacements at Kennedy Elementary and Stevenson High School to Lutz Roofing.
Approval to Purchase Art Tables:
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the purchase of art tables from Smith System. This purchase consists of butcher block tables for art classrooms at Buchanan, Cooper, Franklin, Johnson, and Kennedy and will replace items that are old and in poor condition (funding – General Fund).
Approval to Purchase Maintenance Vehicle:
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the purchase of a ‘23 model year F-250 truck from Gorno Ford (General Fund). This will replace the District’s tow truck and “yard tug.” Gorno Ford’s pricing is via the Mi-DEAL Extended Purchasing Program, which is a state bidding consortium.
Approval to Purchase School Buses (2021 Bond):
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the purchase of 6 school buses from Holland Bus Company. This purchase is a planned purchase to keep the District’s buses up to date.
Approval of Dickinson Abatement Contingency (Sinking Fund):
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved increased contingency funding for abatement at Dickinson Center in the amount of $37,000. This was necessary to address unforeseen asbestos discovered in the Gymnasium. This needs to be addressed in preparation for razing the building.
Approval of 2022-23 First Budget Amendment:
Alison Smith (Director of Finance) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the amended budgets for the 2022-2023 school year.
Approval of Resolution to Authorize the Issuance and Sale of Bonds
Alison Smith reviewed the background, and the Board approved authorizing the issuance of bonds – this sale is the second series of the 2021 voter approved bonds ($70,000,000).
Personnel Matters:
The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.

Instructional Program: IDDA – Special Education Programs, IDDD – Programs for the Academically Talented, II – Systemwide Assessment Program, IIA – Testing Programs (Removal of Policy), and IIC – Use and Dissemination of Assessment Results
