2022-2023 Educators and Support Staff of the Year:

Stacy Jenkins (Administrator for District Communications) introduced, and the Board approved resolutions to recognize the 2022-2023 Educators and Support Staff of the Year: Elizabeth Wright – Grant, Marilee Olsen – Franklin, Angela Allen – Frost, April Adams – Cleveland

American Education Week:

Stacy Jenkins introduced, and the Board approved a resolution to recognize the 101st annual observance of American Education Week.

District Update from the Superintendent:

Superintendent Oquist appealed highlights from across the District, including learning activities at several schools; Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrations; Vision Forward Team; Theatrical Performances; Franklin’s Songs for Unsung Heroes; Frost Craft Show; Churchill Turkey Bowl; examples of Schools Helping with the Holidays with Food Drives and Fleece & Thank You Blankets and other activities; Franklin Volleyball and Football won District Championships; McKenzie Siroky was State Champ in the 100-yard Breaststroke for the 3rd year in a row (broke her own record); Frost RoboFalcons earned a spot a the Michigan State Championships; and LPS Foundation Classroom Grants; Educator and Support of the Year.

Approval of Garfield Greenhouse Site Work:

Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the site work for the Garfield Greenhouse to Simone Companies. The site work is necessary for the planned installation of the greenhouse at Garfield Community School. This work will consist of, among other items, site clearing, excavation, connecting to storm sewer, and installation of concrete and utilities. This will be the preparation work, and the installation of the greenhouse will follow.

Approval of Resolution for Stormwater Management:

Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved a resolution for the school district’s Stormwater Management Plan.

Personnel Matters:

The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.

Sympathy Resolution for Kathleen Grant, Transportation Department:

Jennifer Keatts (Director of Human Resources) introduced, and the Board approved a sympathy resolution for the family of Kathleen Grant, paraprofessional in the Transportation Department.

Hearing from Board Members:

Trustee Centers, President Burton, Vice President Johnson, and Trustee Jarvis comment on the election and thank the community for voting. Trustee Jarvis recognized the Frost Robo Falcons.
