Election Update

Are you an absentee voter still deciding how to fill out your ballot? Vote.Run.Serve-Livonia has put together a voter guide for Livonia residents looking to learn more about candidates for elected office this year – https://issuu.com/voterunser…/docs/vrs_2022_voter_guide…

Over 1.7 million voters have requested their absentee ballot this year, more than double the number from the 2018 midterms.

Latest return data from the Michigan SOS indicates that only a third of absentee ballots have been returned.

Livonia’s own absentee ballot numbers closely mirrors the state, with approximately 24500 voters opting to vote absentee, close to 50% of Livonia’s record mid-term turnout of 2018. 38% of Livonia’s absentee voters, as of October 21, have returned their ballot.

Absentee ballots can be mailed to city hall in the issued Official Ballot Return Envelope. The Secretary of State recommends that voters mail their ballot no later than this upcoming Tuesday (October 25) – two weeks before election day – to avoid mailing delays.

Absentee ballots can also be returned to the absentee ballot drop box located outside of city hall (pictured below).

Not yet registered as an Absentee voter but would like to be one? To vote absentee, registered voters must request their ballot by 5 p.m. Nov. 4. Applications can be submitted in person at the Clerk counter at Livonia City Hall or online through the Michigan SOS site: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/all-services/absentee-ballot.
