Points of Pride – Recognition of Churchill Students:
Stacy Jenkins (Administrator for District Communications) introduced, and the Board approved a resolution recognizing the heroic efforts of Churchill students Chase Adams, Colin Anderson, and Ethan Morche for helping to rescue 2 residents from a house fire.
District Update from the Superintendent:
Superintendent Oquist appealed highlights from across the District including the Project Lead the Way Pilot; Color Runs; Book Fairs; Homecoming at Churchill, Franklin, and Stevenson; LJAL
Football and Cheer are once again using the HS Football Fields for special events; Competitive Edge sign-up reminder for parents of Kindergarteners; Fall Family Portraits fundraiser for the LPS Education Foundation; Grace Brees (Stevenson) took a Silver Medal in Golf at Regional Championship, Stevenson Girls Golf was KLAA East Champs and Regional Runner-ups; Churchill Boys Tennis Coach, Denise Berg-Grant, was named Regional Coach of the Year for Regions 1-3; Emma Apap (Franklin) was named student of the week for her efforts to provide feminine products; Franklin Marching Band earned Class B Awards and a special “Esprit de Corps” Awards; Churchill Marching Band earned a Division 1 Superior Rating at the MSBOA District 12 Festival; Livonia Warrior and Tyros Team won the Robotics Championship in Grand Rapids and Melissa Barbat (Churchill Senior) received a FIRST Scholarship; Mark Ayers (Tennis Franklin Senior) was voted Hometown Life’s Prep Athlete of the Week; and Mrs. Wehner (Randolph) was named Teacher of the Week by Jay Towers Morning Show.

Approval of Dickinson Abatement (2021 Bond):
Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the contract for abatement at Dickinson Center to Quality Environmental Services. This is necessary environmental work at Dickinson in preparation for razing the building for the construction of the new Early Childhood Center.
Approval of RTA Roof Designs (Sinking Fund):
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the contract for roofing design and construction services for Kennedy Elementary, Webster Elementary, and Coolidge Elementary to Roofing Technology Associates.
Approval to Purchase LMC Bookshelves (2021 Bond):
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the purchase of bookshelves for Library Media Centers at Cleveland, Rosedale, Riley, Frost, and Franklin from NBS Commercial Interiors. The LMC’s at these locations are being renovated in the summer of 2023. The bookshelves are being ordered early due to anticipated lead time.
Acceptance of Financial Statements for 2021-2022:
Alison Smith (Director of Finance) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the 2021-2022 audit report as presented by the audit firm of Plante Moran.
Section 98c Learning Loss Grant:
Theresa O’Brien (Chief Academic Officer) reviewed the intent and plan to apply for a Grant from the State to address learning loss (funds would need to be used this school year).
Personnel Matters:
The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.
