Highlights of Summer 2022 Learning Programs:
Dr. Jennifer Taiariol (Director of Student Services) reviewed a summary of the Extend School Year at Webster and the Unified Sports Camp. Because of the positive feedback from Parents, the plan is to hold Unified Sports Camps quarterly (during PAC Meetings) and will again offer a Camp next summer. Theresa O’Brien (Chief Academic Officer) reviewed a summary of the Learning in L-Town programing.

Stacy Jenkins (Administrator of District Communications) reviewed a summary of the Bond Projects.
District Update from the Superintendent:
Superintendent Oquist appealed highlights from across the District, including Welcome Back to School – Class is in Session; Friday Night Lights (Cooper and Riley Tailgates); Military Appreciation at FHS Football game; SHS Senior Night; Youth Night at CHS; Corn Roast;
Congratulations – Dr. Taiariol appointed to a Statewide Commission on reducing youth suicides, FHS Chris Kelbert selected as Detroit Lions’ Michigan HS Football Coach of the Week, SHS McKenzie Siroky voted Detroit Free Press’ Most Outstanding HS Female Athlete of 2022, and CHS Student Heros; mark your calendars – Fall Family Portraits on 10/15, L-PTSA Costume Closet, Fundraisers; and the successful Job Fair.

Appointment of Principal for Western Wayne Skill Center at Garfield Community School: Anthony Abbate (Director of Personnel & District Services) introduced, and the Board approved the appointment of Maegan Sprow.
40-Year Resolutions: Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) introduced, and Karen Bradford read a resolution of appreciation for 40 years of service with the District to recognize William Bowman and Glenn Macorkindale. The Board voted to approve the resolution.
Personnel Matters: The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.
Approval to Purchase School Meal Supplies:
Phil Francis explained the proposal and the Board approved the purchase of school meal products from Van Eerden Foodservice Company for the 2022-2023 school (Food Service Fund).
Approval of Bid Results for Fiber Lunch Trays:
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the bid results for the purchase of fiber (decomposable) lunch trays from MMAS Solutions (Food Services Fund).
Approval of Bid Results for Renovation of the ArmCo Building:
Phil Francis reviewed the background, and the Board approved the bid results for the renovation of the Armco Building at Central Office (doors, windows, siding and roof coating) from Spartan Construction Group Inc. The renovation will be financed through the Capital Projects Fund.
Approval to Purchase U.S. History Online Textbook Licenses:
Theresa O’Brien explained the proposal and the Board approved the purchase of student licenses from TCI Publishing (Teacher licenses are free with this purchase). This will provide an extension of the current textbook for two more years. The funding for this purchase supported by the Wayne County Enhancement Millage.
Second Reading and Adoption of Board Policy KEA – Public Performances, Assemblies and/or Exhibitions:
Stacy Jenkins explained the proposed changes and the Board approved the policy revision.

Superintendent Oquist explained the background and the Board approved Delegates.
