Audience Communications:
Selection of Voting Delegates – 2022 MASB Delegate Assembly:
Superintendent Oquist reviewed the background and need to assign voting delegates to represent LPS at the 10/20 MASB Assembly. The proposal is that Acosta and Bradford will be the Delegates. The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Quarterly Dashboard – 2021 Bond:
Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) and representative from Plante Moran Cresa reviewed the Q2 Dashboard Report that covered Bond and Sinking Fund projects. It was noted that Robotics temporary home will be at Laurel Park Mall in space behind Phoenix Theaters and practice space will be at Frost. Both Schostak and Frost were praised for making this happen.
Renovation of ArmCo Building:
Phil Francis reviewed the bid results for the renovation of the Armco Building at Central Office (doors,
windows, siding and roof coating). The renovation will be financed through the Capital Projects Fund. The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Purchase of Fiber Lunch Trays:
Phil Francis reviewed the background and bid results for the purchase of fiber (decomposable) lunch trays. This is a change from Styrofoam trays that are currently used. This will be financed through the Food Services Fund. The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Purchase of Dairy Products:
Phil Francis explained the proposed 2022-23 dairy purchase from Cedar Crest Dairy Inc. (Food Service Fund). Also reviewed was the need to approve additional funds as more milk was used last year than expected. The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Purchase of School Meal Supplies:
Phil Francis explained the background for the proposed purchase of school meal supplies (Food Service Fund). The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Purchase of Road Salt:
Phil Francis reviewed the proposal to purchase of 1,700 tons of road salt for the 2022-23 winter season at a cost via the MiDEAL Purchase Consortium (General Fund). The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
Tri-County M-STEP Data:
Theresa O’Brien (Chief Academic Officer) reviewed in detail the District M-STEP, MI-Access and MME results from testing last spring (grades 3-8 and 11). Some grades and subjects showed improvement while others showed declines. All are above the State average. Full results for the District and School by School are available at mischooldate.org.
Purchase of U.S. History Licenses:
Theresa O’Brien explained the proposal to purchase U.S. History licenses for 2 additional years (810 student licenses with 12 teacher licenses for free). The original 2013 textbook purchase came with a nine-year digital license. The Board will vote to approve this next week at the regular meeting.
