District Update from the Superintendent:
Mrs. Oquist appealed highlights from across the Districts, including Summer Programing – Learning in L-Town Camps and Learning Fridays (over 2,000 participated), extended school year at Webster for Special Needs Students, and High School credit recovery; 2021 Bond and Sinking Fund summer projects, including A/C, LMC, Playgrounds, and Stevenson Tennis Courts; Niji-Iro started last week and had their traditional Welcome Ceremony; Staff Professional Development; Fall Athletics has started – Churchill Football will play against Plymouth on Friday at the Big House, Annual XC Lamplighter Event, Annual Fall Clean-up at Stevenson; Dialog updates on printing issues and online availability; Livonia Today Magazine feature the new HS Athletic Directors and Unified Summer Sports Camp; LPS is hiring – Food Service, Noon Lunch Monitors, Bus Drivers, Childcare Staff, Custodial, Substitute Teachers; reminders for Bounce Back event, CHS Unity Fun Run, School Tours, Robotics Film – “Underwater Dreams” and the first day of school is Sept 6th.

Approval of 2022-2023 Tuition Rate:
As part of the consent agenda, the Board approved the tuition rate for the 2022-23 school year at $12,264. This is necessary per Board Policy and State Regulations and is for any non-resident elementary and secondary students.
Approval to Purchase Furniture for Teaching Staff – 2021 Bond:
Phil Francis (Ast. Superintendent for District Services) reviewed the background and the Board approved the purchase, removal, and installation of furniture for district teaching staff from Interior Environments, Novi and Yeo and Yeo Computer Consulting, Saginaw. This is a planned purchase is to replace office-style furniture for the District’s teaching staff, which includes classroom teachers and ancillary teaching staff such as counselors, ESTs, psychologists, etc. The new furniture will be replacing desks, chairs, and tables that are beyond their useful life.
Recommend Expulsion for One Secondary Student:
The Board approved the recommendation to expel a secondary school student for violations of Board Policies.
Approval for Board Members to Attend MASB’s Annual Leadership Conference and Take Classes, October 20-23, 2022:
The Board approved Trustees Acosta and Bradford to attend a MASB Annual Leadership Conference (in October) and to take MASB classes.
Approval of Payment for Board Member’s Participation in MASB Legal Workshop on August 11, 2022:
The Board approved President Burton’s participation.
Personnel Matters:
The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.
First Reading of Board Policy:
KEA – Public Performances, Assemblies, and/or Exhibitions was read.
