Vote.Run.Serve does not provide summaries for public comments but we want to note that many residents spoke during public comments during both the general and study session meetings.

You can hear public comments from 8:00 to 39:00 and 1:04:00 to 1:18:00 in the general meeting recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41SYXTw3As0

You can hear public comments from 1:25:00 to 1:53:00 during the study meeting recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYWDI5rWeeI

The consent agenda was approved. [Please note there was a resident comment asking that consent item 7 regarding the request to authorize an increase in court costs assessed for various civil infractions and misdemeanors because of a pending Supreme Court case. Council chose to approve the agenda without removing the item because the law department advised that if this the court decision has an impact it would be resolved at that time.]

The request to approve funds to pay for the Edgewood emergency sewer repair was approved unanimously.

The award of bid request to replace the Wilson Barn Roof was approved unanimously.

The Study Meeting session previews what you can expect to hear more about in future Regular Meetings.

The following items were accepted for the consent agenda:

☑️ Waive the noise ordinance for the Love Livonia Party (9/17) and Supernatural Spirits and Brewing and Wildwood Sour Fest (8/27)

☑️ Request to sell city-owned home, originally purchased with CDBG funding, at 20222 St. Francis to qualified buyer

☑️ Request to approve CDBG Annual Action Plan

☑️ Parks & Recreation Bid requests for property improvements, Library’s request for a replacement of Sandburg library’s HVAC chiller unit and DPW’s requests for additional funds for water and sewage projects. These purchases were done with budgeted funds.

☑️ Request to amend contract for sidewalk replacement

Items to be discussed at the next General Meeting on August 8th.

Following state flagged violations at refueling sites, the City was required to use emergency funds for repairs. Before approving the payment, the Council asked that the administration return with a proposal for how often inspections need to be done to avoid this in the future and additional details about preventative maintenance.

An amended ordinance proposal will be considered that limits flags flown on public buildings owned by the City of Livonia to the State of Michigan, County of Wayne, City of Livonia, United States military flags, Public Safety flags and P.O.W/M.I.A flags.

An alternative motion to send the proposed flag ordinance to committee of the whole, raised by Council Member Mccullough also raised.
