Principals’ Week Resolution:
Dan Willenborg (Director of Secondary Programs and District Service) introduced Principals’ week. Trustee Bonifield read a resolution that the Board approved.


LPS Education Foundation:
Lorna Durand (President of the foundation) introduced Laura Ulaszek as the new Executive Director.


District Update from the Superintendent:
Appealed highlights across the Districts, including the ‘Be Kind Livonia’ initiative; Chamber of Commerce Leadership & Awards Dinner (Outstanding Youth Award recipients – Harish and Oviya Jaisanlar); Fun with 2-22-22 Day; 100th Day of School; Livonia Transition Program bake sale at Ward Church; congrats to Lori Hyman (Stevenson AD) was selected as the MHSAA 2022 Women in Sports Leadership Award; State Champs – congrats to Franklin Pom Pon for 1st place in Div. 1 and Churchill for 1st place in Div.2 in the state; successful CAPA performances of Les Miserables; LPS had 5 finalist for MHSAA Scholar Athlete – Abigail Lueck & Owen Swisher (Churchill), Samantha Provenzano & James Oberman (Franklin), and Erica Molnar (Stevenson); congrats to Livonia Red Gymnastics KLAA Gold Division Champs & Conference Champs for the 2nd year in a row and are undefeated going into regionals; congrats to Franklin Bowling as Div.1 Region 5 Champs; Frost Musicians were selected to perform at Detorit Symphony Orchestra; Stevenson Singer advance to State Solo & Ensemble Festival; and reminders for that K registration is open (class of 2035); Community Hub on District website, LPS Social-Emotional Hotline (734-744-2737, internal x42737, or SES@livoniapublicschools.org), and hiring opportunities.


Audience Communications:
There were no public comments.


Summer 2022 Boiler Projects (Sinking Fund):
The Board approved the purchase and installation of new boilers at Churchill, Stevenson, Buchanan, Livonia Career Technical Center, Cleveland, Randolph, Jackson Early Childhood Center, and the Churchill swimming pool boiler.


Maintenance Equipment Purchase (2021 Bond):
The Board approved the purchase of forklifts and accessories.


Greenhouse at Garfield Community School:
The Board approved amending the purchase that was originally approved at the 5/17/2021 meeting due to name change for the invoicing company.


Tractors (2021 Bond):
The Board approved amending the purchase that was originally approved at the 1/24/2022 meeting for a cost update of $100.


Limited Out of District Schools of Choice for 2022-2023:
The Board approved participation in Limited Schools of Choice under Section 105/105c for the 2022-23 school year. No more than 185 seats in K-8; and 5 seats in each Global Ed and CAPA at ninth grade only; for a total of up to 195 students. Application process will be March 1st hru March 30th.


Everyday Mathematics Journals:
The Board approved the purchase of Everyday Mathematics student journals for first through fourth grade classes and updated Teacher Resources.


Personnel Matters:
The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Leaves, Resignation, and Retirements.


Superintendent Evaluation:
The Board approved Mrs. Oquist’s rating of highly effective.


Support of the IDEA Full Funding Act:
The Board approved to adopt a resolution in support of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Full Funding Act, which authorizes a ten-year plan to fully fund the federal share of IDEA.


Selection of Candidate for MASB Board of Directors:
The Board approved the designate Dr. Darlene Pomponio as the Region 8 candidate for the MASB Board of Directors.


Board Bylaw BCB – General Order of Business at Regular Meetings:
The Board voted to adopt the proposed changes.


First Reading of Board Policy:
Policies changes for the following were read, EDDB – Student Transportation, Walkers and Riders; GAM – Personnel, Staff Rights and Responsibilities; GBE – Personnel, Conflict of Interest (formerly BHA-2); and GBL – Professional Personnel, Tenure.
