July 9th, 2025 – Capital Outlay and Infrastructure Committee

On Wednesday, July 9th City Council held a Capital Outlay and Infrastructure meeting for a presentation of the proposed new police station. An architect from Hobbs + Black walked through the floorplan and design of the new building. In addition to City Council, Mayor Brosnan, Police Chief Goralski and Judges Kavanagh and Jolly were also present.

The police department proposal moves the police station adjacent to the current courthouse, addresses current safety (i.e. provides a space for front desk officers to meet with individuals without leaving protected area) and accessibility concerns, provides technology upgrades and creates a dedicated space for each department. It also offers public meeting space that can be multi-functioning. Outstanding issues to still be addressed include making sure the courthouse has sufficient parking (a ‘park’ area would replace the current court parking lot), the location of fuel pumps and the communication tower.

If voters approve the bond, the new police station would be expected to open in 2028.

There is an Open House at the Livonia Police Department on Thursday, July 24th from 5:30pm to 7pm. Residents will be able to ask questions about the Livonia Built Bond project and go on tours of the current building.
