February Happenings

A new month full of events that show why we love Livonia and if you need extra reasons to love winter – check out open skating at Eddie Edgar or go sledding at Fox Creek Golf Course.

Saturday, February 1st

  • Daddy/Daughter Dance @ Senior Center The annual Daddy/Daughter Dance has been moved to the Civic Park Senior Center in 2025! Our annual tradition returns in a new location. We will have a DJ, dancing, snacks, refreshments, and photo opportunities. We look forward to seeing you in February! Ages 2 and older require a ticket. Those who are under 2 do not require a ticket and may attend with a paying adult. There are two different time slots available for those who would like to attend on Feb. 1: One dance will be 2-4 p.m., and another will be 6-8 p.m.
  • Steve Taylor Three w/ Dan Cafferty @ Trinity House Theatre from 8pm to 10:15pm. Tickets $20

  • Teen Volunteer Council Meeting @ Civic Center Library at 5pm. The goal of the TVC is to help members take an active role in creating a welcoming environment for teens at the library. Meetings will take place on the first Thursday of the month, with additional volunteers opportunities provided throughout the year.
  • Renegade Writers @ Civic Center Library at 7pm. Grades 4 -7. Join us every month as we dive into the world of creative writing. We will try out different genres and writing styles. Participants will also get a journal to decorate.

  • Ban-Joes of Michigan @ Civic Center Library at 2pm. The Friends of the Livonia Library present the Ban-Joes of Michigan, Michigan’s premier jazz band and club. They have performed at various venues and have entertained thousands of people over the years. Come join us for an energizing and entertaining performance.

Monday, February 17th

  • Stories, Snacks, & Crafts! – Pasta Party @ Greenmead Historical Park Pasta, pasta, pasta everywhere! Pasta, pasta, pasta you can share! Join us for a pasta-themed afternoon 2-3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in the Alexander Blue House. We will read some pasta-themed books, create some fun crafts, and end our afternoon with pasta! Advance registration is required for $10/child resident, $12/child non-resident. This program is best for ages 4-10, and all children in attendance must be registered and accompanied by a guardian.

Tuesday, February 18th

  • Seed Swap/Exchange @ Civic Center Library at 7pm. Participants may take one packet of garden seed for each packet they donate.  Donated seeds may be homegrown or commercial seed you purchased.  Please make sure all donated seed is clean, dried and clearly labeled with the type, VARIETY, harvest date and place.  All food, flower, and herb seeds can be donated. Seed swap only, so no bulbs or plants please.  Donated seed should be in paper envelopes or bags, no plastic please. 
  • Open Stage @ Trinity House Theatre from 6pm to 9:30pm

  • Blood on the Clocktower @ Civic Center Library from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Teens and Adults. Join us for a spine-tingling game of Blood on the Clocktower.

  • Old Order Amish @ Civic Center Library from 7pm to 8:30pm. Join seasoned traveler and history buff Rose Szwed for a glimpse into the Old Order Amish community and lifestyle.  She will discuss daily activities, modes of transportation, garments, entrepreneurship, weddings, religious beliefs, education, and the infamous Rumspringa period of adolescent freedom.

  • Mackinac Island Killer – 1960 @ Civic Center Library at 6pm. Join Michigan Notable Author Rod Sadler for an engaging presentation about his book Grim Paradise:  The Cold Case Search for the Mackinac Island Killer. Could advance DNA technology lead to the identity of Frances Lacey’s killer after all this time?

Wednesday, February 26th

  • Delft Folk Jewelry @ Civic Center Library from 6pm to 7:30pm. Choose to create a set of earrings, a charm keychain, or a necklace. Your clay pieces will be baked by the librarian and available for pickup at a later date
  • Family Board Games @ Civic Center Library from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Come take advantage of the library’s amazing board game collection, learn a new game, and connect with your family and the community at our Family Board Game events.
