The administration brought forward a recommendation for a Technology Consulting contract. 6 firms participated in the RFP pitch and 5 submitted bids, the recommended firm is Plante Moran (separate from Plante Moran Realpointe – who did not vote on this contract). The recommendation moves forward with an approving motion. The contract is for $384,500 (7.6% of cost of project) and Plante Moran will oversee integrated technology elements within the city center from printers to heating/cooling systems. The priority will be to use interconnected devices and are equip to grow with new technology (including AI).
Plante Moran Realpointe also provided an update on the City Center project. Site analyses have been done of various aspects of the site including traffic and environmental studies. A proposed spatial rendering should be available within the next two months.
A key component of the new City Center will be a public plaza near City Hall. The goals of the new City Hall building will be to create a welcoming space that has flexible use and demonstrates good stewardship of Livonia’s resources. The adjacent plaza would be designed with the goal of being attractive to various demographics, usable year round and cost effective to maintain.
The next Capital Outlay and Infrastructure Committee Meetings are February 5th, March 12th and April 2nd. These meetings are held at City Hall at 7pm and open to the public.
