Here is a summary of the January 6th, 2025 Special + Study Meetings of Livonia City Council.
Special Meeting
There was no regular meeting because it was the first meeting of the year. Instead, Council held a streamed/recorded special session and voted to appoint Lynda Scheel to fill the vacancy of Jim Jolly (elected 16th District Court judge), the term ends in December 2025.

Items put on the consent agenda:
Approval of vacating petition for easement at 18586 Comstock
Site petition for renovations to 17230 Farmington Rd (former Standard Federal) into a multi-tenant retail center
Payment to Election Source for sole source provider services related to election equipment
Acceptance of donations to the Livonia Library by various donors
Advancement of funds ($500,000) to the Housing Commission to begin work on the development of Newburgh Village 2 (100 2-bedroom unit affordable, senior living homes)
Notice of intent for a bond not to exceed $10M for Newburgh Village 2 (the bond would be paid from the self-supporting Housing Commission and not the City’s General Fund, the $500k noted above would be repaid by the bond, residents who oppose the bond can file a petition within 45 days and if there’s no objection the bond would be voted on for approval at a later date)
Replacement of Newburgh Church roof at Greenmead Historical Park
Bid request for new accessible playground at Kirksey Recreation Center
Resurfacing of Rotary Park Tennis courts from budgeted funds
A lot split request for 19902 Merriman Court was put on the regular agenda
The waiver petition for the redevelopment of the gas station at 31301 Plymouth Rd was sent to the Committee of the Whole
