January 15 Regular and Study

Here is a summary of the January 15, 2025 Regular + Study Meeting of Livonia City Council.

Development of the city center will be a focus of 2025 and City Council will hold Capital Outlay and Infrastructure meetings on the topic on the following dates: January 22nd, February 5th, March 12th and April 2nd. These meetings are not streamed or recorded but VRS will share a summary.

Reports and notices on City finances and quarterly investments, Park and Recreation fee changes and Council committee assignments were accepted

The following items were approved:

▪️Brownfield request for the development at 7 and Victor Parkway (100 townhome development) was approved – the next step is a site plan

▪️Lot split at 19902 Merriman Court

▪️Utility easement at 32400 Plymouth Rd

▪️Request to recognize non-profit Penguicorp Inc

▪️Appointment of Brian Meagher to the Zoning Board of Appeals (by Vice President Martha Ptashnik to file vacancy of Lynda Scheel)

▪️Appointment of Jumana Judeh to Brownsfield Redevelopment Authority

▪️Purchase request by LFD for jaws of life extraction tool

▪️Dates for Board of Review Meetings

▪️Hourly rate increases for seasonal clerks, co-ops and select Parks and Recreation positions

▪️Contract tree and stump removal contract and tree trimming services

▪️Purchase request to continue licensing software for Cityworks Online for DPW

▪️Purchase requests for brush chipper and leaf vacuums

▪️Contract to complete fencing project at DPW

▪️Temporary extension of contract with Michigan Humane Society for animal sheltering (3 months)

▪️Move forward with special assessments for properties that have not paid charges related to sidewalk repair program
