Livonia Kiwanis – Early Risers

Student Volunteers for Special Needs Bowling League

  • Saturdays starting 10/5/24 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM @ Merri Bowl
  • The Kiwanis Club of Livonia sponsors a bowling league for special needs and teens, and we are in need of student volunteers!
  • Bowling will start in October and will run on Saturday mornings. Volunteers will need to arrive at 9:30 am, bowling will start at 9:45 am and go until 11:00 am. Some bowlers need assistance with their walkers or carrying their bowling ball. Other bowlers just love to have encouragement and a friendly face cheering them on! You can sign up for more than one volunteer slot if you’d like, or you can just sign up for one.

Bluestone VOICES for Autism

5th Annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 12th from 11am to 2pm. Please join us for our 5th Annual Trunk or Treat at Bluestone Children’s Center in Livonia, MI! There will be pumpkin patch with decoration station, Ghostbusters Detroit, trunk or treat, cider and donuts, corn sensory pool, face painting and more.

In the event of rain, the trunk setups will be moved indoors for a warm and dry experience!

Kids Coalition Against Hunger

Livonia Community Meal Packing Event on Saturday, October 12th from 9am to 12pm at St. Edith Church.

  • Join your Livonia Community Service Clubs and other volunteers to pack 50,000 meals to feed the hungry. Two-thirds of these meals will be donated in and around Livonia and one-third donated to world hunger.

LPS Education Foundation

Cemetary Walk 2024 on October 6th at 1pm at Briggs-Union Cemetery. The tour will feature visits to several historic Livonia residents with commentary offered by volunteer reenactors at selected gravesites. This fundraising event is in partnership with the Livonia Historical Society.

Unity of Livonia Church

  • Conversations, Coffee, and Cookies on October 17th from 10am to 11:30am We know that our world has become more disconnected as we interact more often through devices. Our goal is to provide a space and time to meet in person and get to know each other as we discuss topics of interest to everyone.
  • In that spirit, please join us on the third Thursday of each month as we host a drop-in circle to get to know each other in a warm and loving environment. We will discuss varied topics (both pre-planned and as they come up) with the goal of fostering an experience of personal connection, upliftment and peace.

  • The Events and Outreach team is busy planning for our 3rd annual Trunk or Treat event which will take place on Sunday, October 27th at noon. This is a great way to let the families in our community get to know us. This year we are adding some games and activities for the children.

  • The Michigan Medieval Combat Association invites sword fighters of all skill levels to join us in our weekly HEMA course on the saber!
  • In this course, we’ll be studying the fighting techniques described and illustrated in treatises from the 18th-19th Century, then performing them in safe, but realistic, combat scenarios!
