July 15, 2024 – City Council Meeting

The minutes and consent agenda were approved.

A read out from the July 8th Capital Outlay and Infrastructure Committee Meeting was given (find the VRS summary here: https://voterunservelivonia.com/2024/07/09/july-8th-2024-capital-outlay-and-infrastructure-committee ) and the notice of intent for a bond for a new City Hall and an owners rep contract with Plante Moran Realpointe were unanimously approved.

Items put on the consent agenda:

  • Waiver request for sidewalk
  • Motion to put the matter of a noise ordinance enforcement change into the Committee of the Whole
  • Appointment of Patrick Droze to the Planning Commission
  • Appointment of Finance Director Debra Lichtenberg to the Livonia Economic Development Corporation
  • Appointment of Chief of Staff Dave Varga to the Livonia Economic Development Corporation
  • LPD vehicle purchase request
  • Vacation time increase for Department Heads and Appointees
  • Window replacement purchase for Newburgh Village
  • Purchase requests from DPW for shelving and racking equipment, a new Dump Truck and 2 pick up trucks
  • Bid request from Engineering Department for Plymouth Road Sanitary Sewer Lining

Items put on the regular agenda:

  • Block Party
  • Lot split request at 8 Mile west of Newburgh and east of I-275 (from RUF to 3 single family homes)

The development proposal for 7 and Farmington was sent to the Committee of the Whole on the consent agenda. The current proposal includes 102-unit townhomes and a 75,466 sq ft Meijer (grocer only) and will be further discussed at a future City Council committee meeting.
