A new month full of events that show why we love Livonia and if you need extra reasons to love winter – check out open skating at Eddie Edgar, go sledding at Fox Creek Golf Course, grab packzis at a local bakery (Fat Tuesday is February 13th) and then taste test at weekly Friday Fish Fries. - Neighborly Networking @ Craft Grille from 5pm to 7pm. The Livonia-Westland Chamber hosts a networking event at Schoolcraft College’s Vistatech Center. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for guests.

- Chocolate 101 @ Greenmead Historical Park. Join us on a delectable adventure with our chocolate tasting class, featuring an enhanced exploration of chocolates from around the world. This program will be presented by Dough Joe’s. This event is sold out.

- Livonia Women’s Connection: Gal-entine’s Day @ Family Affairs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Enjoy FREE networking and sweet treats at the quarterly gathering.
Saturday, February 10th
- The Snow Ball @ Greenmead Historical Park at 1pm. Join us for a live sing-along, photo opportunity, one-on-one experience with Anna and Elsa, make your own crown station, winter-themed snacks, and other fun crafts. This program is recommended for ages 4-10. Tickets are $25 per child.
- Cat Cafe for Teens @ Civic Center Library from 2pm to 4pm – Teens in grades 8-12. Join us for a Cat Café featuring adorable cats from the Michigan Humane Society! Enjoy a cup of tea, cocoa, or coffee while you visit.
- Detroit Style Pizza: A Doughtown History @ Civic Center Library from 2pm to 3:30pm – This presentation tells the past, present and future of this unique pizza style that has grown internationally over the past decade.
- Kids & Comics @ Civic Center Library from 2pm to 3pm – Are you in grades 3 or 4? Do you love graphic novels? Then join us for the Kids & Comics book club! We’ll talk about the book, do something crafty related to the book, have some snacks, and just hang out!
Sunday, February 11th
- Livonia AIR Big Game Party @ Kirksey Recreation Center from 1pm to 3pm. Celebrate the two teams that made it to the Championship. Learn about the finalists, football-themed games and snacks, and more! The cost per member is $5, residents are $10, and non-residents cost $15. Livonia AIR (Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation) Events and activities are designed for individuals with special needs. All abilities are welcome.
- The Great Migration @ Civic Center Library from 2pm to 3:30pm – Actor Madelyn presents the movement of African-Americans from the South to Detroit. Refreshments served afterwards in the Michigan Room.
Monday, February 12th
- Virtual Community Conversation with State Representative Stephanie Young at 10am
- History Lecture Series – Frances Harper Inn @ Greenmead Historical Park at 2pm. Presented by Karren Yurgalite the Frances Harper Inn was the first rooming house for Black women in Detroit. This is a free program. No registration required.
- Lincoln Day Celebration @ O’Malley’s. Hosted by the Livonia Republican Club, tickets are $15
Tuesday, February 13th
- Seed Swap/Exchange @ Civic Center Library at 6:30pm. Participants can take a packet of seed for each seed packet they donate at the swap. For participants who do not bring seed to donate, a $1.00 cash donation may be made for each seed packet taken. Seed donated for the seed swap must be in clearly labeled envelopes (no jars or plastic please) with donor’s name and the type and variety of the seeds.

- Noontime Concert: The Elderly Brothers Trio @ Civic Center Library from 12:15pm to 1pm. The Elderly Brothers Trio is primarily a folk-singing group.
- Budapest: Pearl of the Danube @ Civic Center Library from 7pm to 8pm. Join Mariya Fogarasi to look at geography, history, cuisine, landmarks, culture, and a few outings to popular nearby destinations.
February 16th – 24th
- Livonia Community Theatre presents Little Love Stories at Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church on February 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 7:30pm. A 2pm performance will also be offered on Feb. 24th. Tickets are $12 per person and are available online or at the door.
Saturday, February 17th
- Coffee Hour with Councilwoman Budzinski: Let’s Talk Cyber @ Civic Center Library Meeting Rooms at 11am. Get a general city update and hear from February’s guest is Matthew Stentz from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He will talk about cyber safety – elder financial exploitation, identity theft and child online safety.
- SHS Pom Kid’s Clinic @ Stevenson Fieldhouse from 9am to 12pm. Cost is $50

- Uniquely Unicorn Stuff-a-Pet @ Kirksey Recreation Center from 1pm to 3pm. Let us celebrate the unicorn inside everyone by listening to the story, “I Am Me: A Book of Authenticity” by Susan Verde and enjoy themed arts, crafts, and games. The cost per resident is $22, residents are $25. for ages 2-10.
- Knights Hall Comic and Toy Show from 10am to 4pm. Stop by a day of buying, selling and trading comics and toys. Admission is just $3 at the door. Children under 12 are FREE

- Churchill CAPA presents Shrek The Musical. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online or at the door. Performances are 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Sunday.

- Coffee Culture Class @ Greenmead Historical Park at 9am. Explore the history and taste of local coffees, and learn about the differences between the blends and brews. Advance registration is required for $25/resident
- Preschool Open House @ Civic Center Library from 11am to 1pm. Are you looking for a Preschool for your little Scholar? Stop by to speak with area preschools.
- Under The Sea Mother and Son Dance @ Kirksey Recreation Center from 6pm to 8pm. Come dance, play, snack, and make memories! The cost for residents is $12 and $15 for non-residents. Each attendee ages 2 and older must register.
- Livonia Symphony Orchestra performs “Melodic Melodies” featuring Sibelius Symphony No. 2 at 4pm at Clarenceville High School. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.

- Kick-off To 100 Days to Health @ Kirksey Recreation Center from 9:45am to 11:45am: There will be two educational seminars and a lot of free giveaways! The event provides daily classes that participants (even non-members) can take along their 100-day health journey, concluding with the June 3 closing event.

- Voting Rights Town Hall @ Sandburg Library from 5:30pm to 7pm. A town hall event with Livonia State Representatives Laurie Pohutsky and Matt Koleszar to discuss the legislation that was passed in 2023 to implement Proposition 22-2 and other legislation that expanded access to voting in Michigan. With those laws going into effect this year, we’ll let everyone know who they may impact the voting process.

- Stories, Snacks, & Crafts! – Leapin’ Lizards! @ Greenmead Historical Park at 2pm. Leap on over to the Alexander Blue House at Greenmead on the kids’ half day of school for a fun afternoon of amphibian and reptile-themed stories, snacks, and crafts! The Huron-Clinton Metroparks will be joining us for this program with an up close and interactive look at some live reptiles and amphibians. Advance registration is required for $10/child resident, $12/child non-resident. This program is best for ages 4-10.
- Cookies & Canvas for Teens @ Sandburg Library from 5:30pm to 7pm. Teens and Tweens, let your creativity shine with a paint night just for you, snacks included!
- 2024 Leadership & Awards Celebration Dinner @ Italian American Banquet Center from 5pm to 7:30pm. The Livonia-Westland Chamber of Commerce hosts a celebration to honor those who make a difference in Livonia, making the community a great place to live, work, learn and play! Tickets are $40 per person
- Behind The Scenes of History @ Civic Center Library at 7pm. Examine the history and the present of the Straits of Mackinac.

Wednesday, February 28th
- Rec Center Readers Book Club @ Kirksey Recreation Center at 7pm Guess what your fellow peers are reading this month for the Recreation Center Book Club! They are reading “The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett”. You can borrow this book from Livonia Public Libraries. There is a $3 fee for residents and $5 for non-residents.
