Here is a summary of the November 13, 2023 Regular + Study Meeting of Livonia City Council.

Vice President of Council Laura Toy was out sick.
Livonia City Clerk Susan Nash provided an election day recap. Overall turnout was 30.45%, on par with past local elections, with 9092 voters voting in person and 15723 voters voting absentee. Clerk staff from neighboring Wayne County communities like Canton Township and Redford were called to support election operations due to both the clerk and deputy clerk being on the ballot.
The following was passed unanimously:
- Consent agenda
- Purchase agreements
- 5-year contract extension with Tyler Technology
- Repaving the west end of the Bennett Civic Center Library Parking Lot
The following proposed ordinance changes were given first read
- Renaming Park site AA to Lions Park to honor the work of the Livonia Lions Club in that area and Devon-Aire Woods Park to John T. Dufour Park to honor Livonia’s first Parks and Recreation superintendent.
- Renaming the pool area at the Recreation Center to Ronald R. Reinke Aquatic Center for another Parks and Recreation director who helped provide the city with the Recreation Center, Fox Creek Golf Course and more.
The following items were passed with a majority of votes:
- Site plan for 5 residential developments at Parkdale and Levan roads
- Issuing a charitable gaming license to the Clarenceville Public Schools Band Club to fundraise for new marching band equipment
The following item were not passed:
Providing Canton Township residents resident rates to the Kirksey Recreation Center while the Canton Summit is closed for repairs.

The following items were added to the next consent agenda
- Various purchase agreements for DPW, Livonia Fire and Police
- Licensing agreement between Parks and Recreation and Tyler Technology for payroll software
- 2024 City Council meeting schedule
- Collective 3-year bargaining agreement between Livonia and the Livonia Police Officers Association
- The agreement removes Blue Cross as the sole health care provider, eliminates wage tiers and raises covered salaries over the span of the contract by 12-14%
