Donor Recognition for Second Grade Field Trips:

Stacy Jenkins (Administrator for District Communications) recognized the donation of Field Trips to Greenmead.

District Update from the Superintendent:

Superintendent Oquist appealed highlights from across the District, including classroom activities at Buchanan, Garfield’s Western Wayne Skills Center, Frost, Stevenson, Rosedale, Cooper, and Coolidge; Halloween Spirit; Detroit Police visited Hayes; Skills Center wore Pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness; Homecoming Activities; Firefighter Randy visited Coolidge; Fall Middle School Sports Season is wrapping up – Cross Country and Volleyball; Peer Connections at Frost; LPS Administrative Leadership Team – Collaborating and Connecting; New ECC building update; Portraits at the Barn fundraiser for the LPS Education Foundation; Churchill and Stevenson Marching Band received a Division 1 ‘Superior’ rating at the MSBOA District 12 Marching Band Festival; Stevenson Celebrated the Girls Swim, Boys Soccer, and Girls Volleyball as KLAA East Champs; CHS Cole Booth received the Vocational Service Award from Livonia Rotary; CHS Boys Tennis Coach Denise Berg-Grant was named MHSAA Regional Coach of the Year; LPS Parent Fair will be held at SHS on 11/8, LPS Education Foundation Luncheon is on 11/1 and CH 7 Carolyn Clifford will be the guest speaker; Fall Theater Season – Franklin Players Present “Thirteen Past Midnight” on 11/3-5. Audience Communications:

Over 10 people (including several students) spoke in support of a former substitute teacher. Several people spoke about concerns at Niji-Iro and behavioral problems in general.

Approval of Purchase Wrestling Mats for Stevenson High School:

Kevin Etue (Director of Secondary Programs and District Services) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the purchase of wrestling mats for Stevenson. The current mats are over 20 years old and are at the end-of-use.

Acceptance of Financial Statements 2022-2023:

Alison Smith, Chief Financial Officer (with Plane Moran), reviewed the background and the Board voted to accept the 2022-2023 audit report as presented by the audit firm of Plante Moran. State law requires that an outside independent audit of the school district’s finances be conducted annually.

Approval of Bid Results Franklin and Cleveland Roofing (Sinking Fund):

Phil Francis (Assistant Superintendent of District Services) reviewed the background, and the Board approved the recommendation to award the contract for roofing replacement at Franklin and Cleveland. This is part of the district’s 10-year facility sinking fund plan, which includes roof replacements at schools throughout the district.

Personnel Matters:

The Board approved / recognized new Hires, Tenure, Resignations, and Retirements.

Second Reading of Board Policies – Fiscal Management:

The Board approved the updates to Policy DIA – Account System, Policy DIB – Financial Reports and Statements, and Policy DJCA – Payday Schedules.

Approval of Superintendent’s Evaluation

The Board approved the evaluation of Superintendent Andrea Oquist, for which she received a rating of highly effective.
