There’s lots to do in Livonia! Here are events happening in September.

- The Livonia Jaycee’s want to shout out local businesses in the month of September with a WEEKLY gift card giveaway contest. Make a purchase, take a selfie at the store and send the picture to the Livonia Jaycees via a Facebook DM or email (livoniajaycees@gmail.com) and be entered to a gift card drawing.

- Livonia Public Library’s One City, One Book – Multiple Events
- The Library is hosting a series of FREE public events that are open to all ages around the selected novel The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. The series kicks-off with the book’s author Kim Michele Richardson on Thursday, September 7th.

- The Livonia Chamber continues to provide valuable trainings for all professionals by welcoming entrepreneur, educator, media contributor and professional speaker, Mark S. Lee. His presentation will involve next-level discussions; including special guest: Fox 2 Detroit’s Roop Raj, recognizing our implicit biases can help create a workplace where we can express our authentic self while sharpening our listening so we can respect others and their authentic selves. All of this leads to a productive work environment for all.

- Liz Larin’s new album, The Expedition, is music time travel combining infectious grooves, stirring prose-like lyrics, and soaring vocals and guitar. Her live performance captures honest moments highlighting her bright songwriting history from first hit to her latest uplifting empowerment anthems. 8pm performance, tickets $20
- Greenmead Fall Flea Market – Sunday, Sept. 10
- Bring your wagon or cart to shop from more than 160 vendors offering a wide variety of items for sale. No dogs permitted at the event. $3 adult admission paid at the gate; free for ages 11 and younger.
- Here We Go – Two Point OH – Sunday, Sept. 10
- n early 2020, Assistant City Attorney Eric Goldstein went to the eye doctor with some vision issues. That appointment started a whirlwind adventure starting with urgent surgery and the discovery of Glioblastoma brain cancer, the deadliest of all brain cancers. The general life expectancy is less than 18 months. Eric’s still here! This 2.5 hour live performance (with 15 minute intermission) chronicles Eric’s journey with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer and how he has managed to turn many negatives into positives along the way. This is a fundraiser for the Livonia Public Library and Livonia First Responder Association. Tickets are $20
- Livonia Chamber’s Quick.Coffee.Connections – Wednesday, Sept. 13
- Enjoy your coffee or morning drink of choice while networking with your fellow members at Lekker Choco Treat in Laurel Park. This event is a great, casual opportunity to meet new contacts and continue to build on others.
- Let’s Talk About It: Mental Health & Suicide Awareness – Wednesday, Sept. 13
- Four expert guest speakers in the field of mental illness and suicide awareness. Presenting on mental health statistics, stressors, conditions, warning signs, coping skills, behavioral health, self-injurious behaviors, suicide, prevention, and accompanying people who suffer with mental health challenges; resources and information to help. Live question & answer segment at the end.
- Good & Strong Club Karaoke – Friday, Sept. 15
- The Good & Strong Club is a social club designed for tweens, teens and adults with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities to hang out, have fun, socialize and practice some vocational skills. Each meeting will have a themed activity. Activities will alternate between just-for-fun Karaoke, and Makers & Mentors. Makers & Mentors will practice vocational skills, creating no-bake treats and packaging items which may end up on the menu at Anastasia and Katie’s Coffee Shop! Dancing optional!
- Livonia’s Paper Shredding and Tire Recycling Day – Saturday, Sept. 16
- Enter the event through the employee parking lot at the DPW Headquarters and proceed west to the trucks Residents can dispose of up to 10 tires and five recycling bin boxes of documents. The event is free and for Livonia residents only
- Wilson Thicket @ Trinity House – Saturday, Sept. 16
- Wilson Thicket combines a hand-picked group of the top singers, instrumentalists, and songwriters that Michigan has to offer, with decades of performing experience under their collective belts. Performance at 8pm, tickets $20
- Tour de Livonia – Sunday, Sept. 17
- Get ready for the inaugural Tour de Livonia Sunday, Sept. 17, at Bicentennial Park. Cycling enthusiasts can choose from the 17-mile course (ages 16+) at 9 a.m. or the 6-mile course (all ages) at 9:30 a.m. as they cycle through parks, neighborhoods and past notable Livonia landmarks. Helmets are required for all participants.
- Livonia Cider Mill – Sunday, Sept. 17
- Life Church Livonia is bringing Petey’s Donuts to town. There will also be food, games, bounce houses, music and more.
- Annual Livonia Corn Roast – Sunday, Sept. 17
- The FREE good old-fashioned neighborhood Corn Roast returns 11:30a-3:30pm at Bicentennial Park following the Tour de Livonia. Join friends and family for food, fun, entertainment and check out the dozens of Livonia community groups on site.
- Livonia Historical Society Meeting and Speaker – Monday, Sept. 18
- Stop by the Alexander Blue House at 2 p.m. for this month’s presentation. A short business meeting will follow.
- History Lecture Series- The Hidden History of Women in Cryptography – Thursday, Sept. 21
- By virtue of their adherence to secrecy oaths, a desire to avoid the spotlight, and having their accomplishments stolen by others, the history of women in cryptography is still being told. In this presentation, Keith Nabozny will reveal some of the fascinating stories of women who cracked the code! This is a free program and begin at 2pm at Greenmead. No registration required.

- S’mores & Stories – Friday, Sept. 22
- Get a feel for the camping life with our monthly S’mores and Stories program at Newburg School Field! We will enjoy roasting s’mores, telling stories and enjoying a variety of activities around the campfire. Everyone loves a good bonfire! This month’s theme is Harvest Time. This program is best for children ages 5-12 and all children must be accompanied by an adult (parents do not need to register). Advance registration required for $5 per child resident at LivoniaParks.org.
- Dueling Pianos – Friday, Sept. 22
- Enjoy an evening of dinner and entertainment with Dueling Pianos International at St. Michael’s. Doors open at 5:30 pm for happy hour, followed by dinner at 6:30 pm, and the show begins at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available online for $30, including dinner, beverage and entertainment. Cash bar available.

- This market will be setup outside the Laurel Park Place Mall and you’ll be able to shop over 100 local and small businesses at our Vintage & Handmade Market. You’ll find all sorts of wonderful items including: vintage treasures, handmade signs and wood decor, boutique clothing & accessories, furniture, rustic décor, jewelry, bath & body, art work, animal/pet items, unique handcrafted items, personalized items, gifts and so much more. - Join the Livonia Women’s Connection for the final event of 2023. This extra special closing event is hosted by the Clarenceville School District and the Livonia Symphony Orchestra. Join the LWC for light refreshments and conversation at Clarenceville High School before enjoying complimentary tickets to ‘Potpourri’ – the LSO’s first concert of the season – in the auditorium. - Rollie Tussing Trio – Saturday, Sept. 23
- Award-winning finger-style guitarist Rollie Tussing performs timeless classic and country blues, dewy-eyed tunes of the 20s, as well as Godforsaken songs of the nineteenth century. Performance at 8pm and tickets $20
- Sunday Tour at Greenmead – Sunday, Sept. 24
- Come visit yesterday this summer and take a tour of the village buildings. Self-paced tours are from 1 – 4 p.m. Begin at Delia’s Treasures Gift Shop (located by the stop sign) for your admission pass. Admission is by donation this year. Docents will be in each building to share information and answer questions.
- St Baldrick’s Main Event – Sunday, Sept. 24
- On Sept 24th from 12-5pm St. Baldrick’s will take over One Under for the 4th year in a row. Head shaving starts at 12:30pm.
- 2023 Livonia Candidate Forums – Thursday, Sept 28
- The city council candidates and mayoral candidates on the November ballot were invited to appear at the Livonia Chamber of Commerce candidate forum at the Livonia City Hall auditorium from 7pm to 9pm.
- Guns N’ Gowns: Civil War Encampment – Sept. 30 + Oct. 1
- This free living history event will take place at Greenmead Historical Park, 20501 Newburgh. There will be demonstrations of military camp life, drills, musket firing, medical practices, surgery, civilian life, period fashions, phrenology, an amazing display of historical reproduction flags, and much, much more! Stop in the village buildings to see some great exhibits and take a tour as well. This event is a great opportunity for students of all ages to learn about life during the Civil War era.
- One-On-One Senior Tech Support – Saturday, Sept. 30
- The Livonia Jaycee’s and Livonia Library’s Teen Volunteer Council are partnering to host a free one-on-one Senior Tech Support event. The drop-in event is open to seniors looking for help with cellphones, tablets and laptops on Saturday,September 30th from 2pm to 5pm.
- Touch-A-Job – Satruday, Sept. 30
- This new Career Exploration Festival is designed to introduce young people and their parents to great, in-demand careers that require no more than an associate degree. Students will have hands-on experiences, opportunities to meet professionals and educators from these fields, fun, games, food and more. Middle and high school students will rotate through 45-minute sessions at various career sites in and around the Manufacturing and Engineering Center from 9am to 1pm.

- Detroit veteran indie rocker Chris Plum (Mood Elevator, Brendan Benson and the Wellfed Boys) embarks on a new adventure with his jazz album debut, The Small Hours. Performance at 8pm and tickets $20
