For the next Regular Meeting 6/26th:
OHM and the Department of Public Works recommended Council approve Murphy Pipeline Contractors, as the lowest bidder $5.5M+, for a water main replacement project around the Bell Creek neighborhoods. The second lowest bid company, Bidigare Contractors, attended in defense of their bid.
VRS encourages folks to watch the meeting for complete information but the outstanding issue for multiple members of council was that Murphy Pipeline Contractors is based out of Florida and Bidigare Contractors is a local company managed by a Livonia resident. Multiple council members were interested in assurances that the work would be done by local employees and not outside contractors. Additional documentation was requested and the matter will be further discussed at the next general meeting.
